Community Programs

The Salvation Army is stepping in and providing the music and arts programs that many schools can no longer afford. From children's choirs to music lessons, poetry to painting, drama to dance, after-school lessons, these activities introduce kids to the beauties of the fine arts.

Music Lessons
The Salvation Army welcomes people of all ages, teaching them how to sing and play instruments to the glory of God and for the blessing of others. Performance opportunities abound, whether it’s playing in a Salvation Army band, singing in the choir, leading Sunday worship in a praise band, or spreading the joy of Christmas through music at one of our red kettles. The average for a music lesson in the Portland Metro area is $60 for an hour lesson. With your support, a child will have access to music lessons, which they may not otherwise have.
